My work, spanning both visual art and music, is a deeply personal exploration of reality and perception through the lens of feminine experience, identity, and performativity. Drawing from existentialist feminism, I investigate the dissociation and fragmentation inherent in this “becoming” a woman.
Also influenced by Jungian psychoanalysis and phenomenology, my work explores the conditions created by patriarchy, ie power dynamics, and the tension between authenticity and performative identities.
Through a combination of self-portraiture, performance, and ephemeral materials, I look into the cultural obsession with youthful, idealized femininity and the aestheticization of female suffering.
My paintings are a mix of autobiography and fantasy. I use natural elements and shapes to explore the erotic and the mystical.
The motif of the swan also represents a transcendence of false dualisms created under the pressures of these power structures, ie purity/impurity, sacred/profane, feminine/masculine, etc.
